The Flavor Envelope
The Furman Sensory Time/Intensity Flavor Envelope is a method of tracking the changes of flavor over the duration of the taste. Similar to a sound envelope used in the production of music, the taste has an attack in the beginning, a sustain of flavor, a release of the flavor, then a finish and end to the flavor. Breaking the Waveform into four sections allows the envelope to be plotted into a graph for a visual interpretation of the flavor of the beer. Diving deep into the make-up of the flavor.
